Wells Country Store: 802.645.0332. Established in 1832 this country store offers some of the area’s finest baked goods—their muffins, doughnuts and pound cake are legendary. Now, please join us in welcoming the new owners (April 2023) Andy and Sarah Haflett from Troy, Pennsylvania.  


Larson Farm: 802.645.1957. Fresh Raw Jersey Milk, 100% Grass-fed Beef and Eggs. (Turn left at the Wells Country Store, also a Route 30 south shortcut)

 

Laughing Child Farm: 802.325.2054. Specializes in growing organic sweet potatoes Owned and operated by Brooke and Tim Hughes-Muse and their four giggling girls.

Mach’s Market: 802.325.3405. Located in the Pawlet village, Mach’s sells exceptional local provisions, gourmet wood-fired brick oven pizza, artisanal bread, Vermont cheeses, fresh everything, and their dumplings are beyond extraordinary! The building’s historical beauty alone is worth the visit.

Otto's Cones Point General Store: 802.287.9925. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Ice Cream | Mini Golf | Live Music | Catering. A great family experience. (Temporarily Closed)


Lake St. Catherine State Park: 802.287.9158. These five miles long 852 acre lake has all the charm of a private lake with crisp clean water is a great family day-retreat.


Lake St. Catherine Country Club: 802.287.9341. Open to the public, this 18-hole golf course has a nice restaurant & tavern or dine outside on the deck overlooking the fairways.

Lewis Deane Nature Preserve: Wells / Poultney, VT.
An 85-acre forest located on St. Catherine Mountain offers two moderate hiking trails with breath-taking views on Lake St. Catherine just minutes north of the inn.

Granville, New York: See all the new and exciting things going on in the heart of Granville! Just ten minutes from Pond Mountain Inn!

Poultney & Castleton, Vermont: Learn more about the picturesque New England towns of Poultney and Castleton located just north of Pond Mountain Inn.

Will says, “…the joy—the magic—of furniture building occurs when we take a moment to step back, to appreciate the seemingly impossible journey from a felled tree to the final coat of oil…”  Will’s work is unimaginably stunning—check out his website.

 

Fishing: there are fishing opportunities everywhere – ponds, lakes and streams. Fly-fishing is nearby on the Battenkill or Mettawee Rivers. And the best part, Manchester is home to the world headquarters of the renowned Orvis with teaching ponds and the American Museum of Fly-Fishing.


Mountain View Ranch: 802.293.5837. Danby, VT. Trail ride through the spectacular southern Vermont countryside or take horseback riding lessons.  Winter horse drawn sleigh rides is a wonderful experience. Ask for John Sisters, owner, and tell him you’re staying with us.


Merck Forest and Farmland Center: Rupert, VT. 802.394.7836. Composed of 3,162 acres and includes a 3,100 acre managed forest, certified-organic sugaring operation, a 62-acre farm and great hiking. Enjoy a wonderful half-day experience for both children and adults.


Pond Hill Ranch Pro Rodeo Company: Castleton, VT. 802.468.2449 / 802.468.0578. A pure slice of Americana that’s enormously entertaining! Our guests love it and we go every year! Weekly rodeos every Saturday evening at 8pm. 


​Bromley Mountain: Peru, VT. 802.824.5522 (summer). Incredible adventure with 23 rides and attractions including a half mile long zip line, Vermont’s longest water slide and a 18-hole miniature golf course. (50 minutes from the inn)


Stratton Mountain: Stratton, VT. 802.297.4000. Gondola rides in the summer. The Stratton Gondola will take you to the top of southern Vermont highest peak for breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.


Fort Anne Antiques Mall: Whitehall, NY. 518.499.2915.  This is a 10,000 Sq. Ft. Multi Dealer Shop that many of our guests have enjoyed – 22 miles west and it takes about 30 minutes.

King Bakery Donut Cart: Cambridge, NY. 518.677.3530. A beautiful 45-minute ride, then we waited 20 minutes outside for the most delicious donuts you’ll ever have!  


Cambridge Valley Livestock Market: Cambridge, NY. 518.677.3895. Tell me this wouldn't be great fun! We have never inquired, nor do we know anything about this, but if nothing else it'll be a great story! Next time you're here on a Tuesday let's go!


Champlain Orchards: Shoreham, VT. 802 897 2777. Our favorite orchard! One of the oldest continuously operating Orchards in Vermont. They grow over 115 varieties of apples, as well as peaches, pears, plums, cherries, nectarines, apricots, and many berries. Spectacular!


Hemmings Cruise-Ins: Bennington, VT. 802.447.9550. New England's Best Informal Car Show (Summer). Family friendly car gatherings open to all; enjoy seeing wide variety of cars and people during the beautiful New England summer.
